Cross country ski enthusiasts can explore a lot well groomed trails at all altitudes and amidst spectacular scenery in the Ötztal Valley! Deeply snow-covered landscapes, clear-asglass mountain air and dreamy panoramas await you in the gently rolling hills ideal for cross-country skiing and gliding silently through tree-shaded tracks. A bus line takes you effortlessly to Ötztal’s major cross-country skiing center.

Winter hiking, Snowshoeing & Ski Moutaineering

Hiking or walking is the best way to enjoy the glistening winter white in all its complete serenity. Get your snowshoes on and go for a walk through deeply snow-covered woods and untouched natur. This type of walking is great exercise, lots of fun and improves conditioning. With a far-reaching network of paths, even remote areas are accessible. Ski mountaineers will find their personal Alpine paradise high up in the mountains of Ötztal. Powder snow slopes, bizarre rocks and ice-covered peaks, mighty glaciers… There is nothing more attractive than a white Alpine wonderland amidst unspoilt nature. Of course, ski mountaineering aficionados already know that the Ötztal Valley makes a real ski touring heaven.

Ice skating in Sölden

Ice sports have again become popular. Our grandparents already enjoyed night-time ice skating or curling. Floating on the ice can be so much fun! And if you are lucky, you enjoy ice skating in Sölden’s outdoors: a truly unique feeling under the starry sky. Ice skating provides a sense of weightlessness, calling to mind childhood dreams of freedom. As it is a very elegant activity off the beaten tracks, ice skating makes a great alternative to Alpine skiing or snowboarding.

Sledding & Sleigh Riding

All those who want to enjoy tobogganing and sledding in winter, Sölden has an ultimate and perfectly maintained 5-kilometer floodlit natural track. An action-packed toboggan ride always guarantees great fun for young and old – followed by a rest stop at one of Sölden’s quaint mountain inns. Organized sledding evenings with taxi-transfer from the Gaislachalm, Löplealm or Gasthof Silbertal. (Not only) romantics enjoy heading through the idyllic winter wonderland on a horse-drawn sleigh. Wrapped up in warm blankets, you will enjoy an unforgettable trip. And afterward, why not have some of the warming “Glühwein” (hot spiced wine) at a cosy mountain hut?
